PHOTOS: Exclusive Disney Munchling Debuts at Disney Springs

Last week, Disney Springs Chef Amanda Lauder proudly introduced the Munchlings Chocolate Piñata (chocolate piñata filled with candy corn crackle) and the Munchlings Black Forest pastry (vanilla bean mousse and dark chocolate mousse with cherries on a chocolate sable cookie), both edible recreations of the Chocolate Piñata Heimlich with Candy Corn Crackle plush – inspired by none other than Heimlich—the lovable caterpillar from the 1998 film, “A Bug’s Life.” Disney Munchlings turn treasured characters into delightful, sweet confections—a task that’s right up the alley of the Chef de Cuisine – Pastry at Disney Springs

Marking the release of this special edition Disney Munchling plush and dessert, Chef Amanda hosted a culinary demonstration of the Munchlings Chocolate Piñata for an eager audience at Waterside Stage presented by AdventHealth in Disney Springs. Chef Amanda revealed that her affection for Heimlich is rooted in nostalgia. “When the movie released, my older sister gifted me a charming Heimlich nightlight that voiced four distinct phrases. It became my bedtime ritual, listening to those phrases each night,” she reminisced. Given this connection, it was only fitting that the Munchlings Chocolate Piñata is stuffed with candy corn—a staple in Heimlich’s diet.

The real challenge for Chef Amanda was capturing the essence of the original character… in chocolate. Every element, from the piñata’s spherical body and expressive face to its delicate antennas and wings, is handcrafted. To accomplish this feat, the chef enlisted the help of her amazing team at Amorette’s Patisserie and The Ganachery, which helped her craft over two thousand piñatas!

After the culinary demonstration, Chef Amanda welcomed eager Guests to World of Disney to get the Chocolate Piñata Heimlich with Candy Corn Crackle Munchling plush while supplies last and then invited them to head over to Amorette’s Patisserie to take a bite of the Munchlings Black Forest pastry and to take a crack at the Munchlings Chocolate Piñata. It’s a double dose of sweetness they won’t be able to resist!
