ICON Park Receives “Innovator Award” for Creating Exceptional Experiences
ICON Park recently received the “Innovator Award – with recognition from Mayor Jerry L. Demings – from the I-Drive Chamber of Commerce for “creating exceptional experiences that enhance both our destination and the local community.”
“ICON Park is always raising the bar by striving for excellence, and working with others, to enhance the destination and benefit the community,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings in a special video message for the award.
The award was presented to ICON Park president & CEO Chris Jaskiewicz at this month’s Chamber meeting, hosted at ICON Park with over 100 tourism industry leaders to share what’s new throughout the complex. “This award is to the talented ICON Park team for creating so many industry “firsts,” said CEO Jaskiewicz.
ICON Park has transformed over the last few years with numerous new additions including, famous restaurants, new attractions for kids and adults, nighttime entertainment, live music nightly, an outdoor lawn for gatherings, and a new food event series.
The complex also expanded support to the community, hosting 100 different activation events to help local non-profits, and donating a quarter of a million dollars through in-kind resources to organizations that help residents – from first responders and law enforcement to school teachers and families in need.
Keeping with the award’s theme of innovation, ICON Park then transformed the award presentation itself into a feel-good “exceptional experience”, as Jaskiewicz announced a special surprise to a local 10-year-old doing good deeds in the community.
Greshaun Daberezil, a young Orange County resident, started a good deed project this summer by setting up a display to give free, ice-cold waters to anyone in need of relief from Central Florida’s summer heat — until his cooler was recently stolen.
ICON Park invited Daberezil to the event and surprised the young boy with new supplies including a replacement cooler and several cases of water — plus annual passes to The Wheel for him and his family in front of 100 business leaders.
