All Major Theme Parks In Central Florida to Be Closed on Sept. 28-29 Due to Hurricane Ian
All the major theme parks in Central Florida continue to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Ian and are taking the necessary steps to maintain the safety of Guests and Cast/Team Members; as a result, the following theme parks and attractions will be closed on September 28-29, 2022:
- Magic Kingdom Park
- EPCOT
- Disney's Hollywood Studios
- Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- Disney Springs (this location may reopen on Sept. 29 if the storm moves away from the area)
- Universal Studios Florida
- Universal's Islands of Adventure
- Universal's Volcano Bay Water Park
- Universal's CityWalk
- SeaWorld Orlando
- SeaWorld's Aquatica
- Discovery Cove
- LEGOLAND Florida
- LEGOLAND's Water Park
- Peppa Pig Land
- Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
- Adventure Island Water Park
Walt Disney World-Specific Operational Adjustments:
1) Resorts
- For the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, all Guests including our Disney Vacation Club Members must check-in on Sept. 28, by 3 p.m. Guests who reschedule their trip or cancel their stay can do so without any cancellation fees. Check-ins will not be accepted on Thursday, Sept. 29.
- Guests who are checked in by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 will be asked to shelter in place at their resort hotel for the duration of the storm. This includes any resort-to-resort transfers.
- During this time, dining options for Guests staying in on-site resort hotels will vary, and in some cases may be very limited. Where available, restaurants will accept walk-ups.
- Characters will not be available in character dining locations on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.
- The Grand Floridian Spa will close at noon Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Additionally, as previously shared, the following Disney Resort hotels will temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30 due to inclement weather:
- Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
- Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- The Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
2) Transportation
- Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Tuesday, Sept. 27 night after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
- Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World resort Guests with existing breakfast reservations.
