Universal Orlando Teases New Minion-Themed Attraction Rumored to Be Replacing Shrek 4-D

Over the past few days, Universal Orlando Resort has been posting numerous photos on its official Twitter page showing a half-eaten banana placed in front of Universal Studios Florida attractions. Despicable Me fans will quickly realize that these images foreshadow an even greater Minion presence in the park, as bananas are their favorite food.

Here you are some of the images that have been posted over the past few days. As you will see, the attractions shown in the background include Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Revenge of the Mummy:

Of course, it's clear that Minions will not take over those attractions, but these hints eventually lead to the actual attraction that will soon be replaced: the former Shrek 4-D, which officially closed to Guests yesterday evening.

According to rumors, the building formerly housing Shrek 4-D will soon become the setting for Villain-Con, a fictional convention where villains from Despicable Me will showcase their inventions, giving Guests the chance to test them.

The very reliable Orlando Park Stop revealed some interesting details regarding this new attraction, including the fact that it may not include an actual ride system, but a moving walkway that will move Guests from screen to screen. The attraction was originally expected to open later this year, but it's possible it will actually open sometime in 2023.
