Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Closing for Refurbishment Early 2022

As previously announced, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain will temporarily close for regularly scheduled refurbishments in early 2022 at the Magic Kingdom Park.

Here's the current timeline of the scheduled refurbishments (subject to change without notice):

• Splash Mountain will undergo a refurbishment from January 10 to February 10, reopening  on February 11, 2022
• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will temporarily close for refurbishment from February 14-18, reopening to park Guests on February 19, 2022.

The Walt Disney World Resort officially confirmed that there will be no changes to the Guest experience as a result of these routine refurbishments; however, Splash Mountain's downtime will allow Disney Imagineers an opportunity to do some preliminary onsite work in preparation for the attraction’s reimagining.

According to Disney, Imagineers have recently been able to resume research in New Orleans and are making great progress. Additional information about the attraction's reimagining will be shared in the near future.
