Phased Reopening of Walt Disney World to Continue Despite Rising Number of COVID-19 Cases
As you might have already heard, Disneyland Resort delayed their July 17 reopening date given that the State of California has indicated it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4. Given the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Florida, some people were wondering whether Walt Disney World would also delay the resort's reopening, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
As previously announced, the company received approvals for Walt Disney World Resort to move ahead with its phased reopening plans from our state and county governments.
Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are currently still expected to reopen to Guests on July 11, with EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios following on July 15. The Walt Disney World Resort is moving forward with measured steps that prioritize the health and well-being of Cast Members and Guests.
Plans include the following enhanced health and safety protocols:
- Guest temperature screenings prior to entry
- Required face coverings for Cast and Guests across the property
- Reduced capacity
- An advanced reservation system for park admission
- Encouraging cashless transactions
- Changes to accommodate physical-distancing practices
The Walt Disney World Resort promises to reopen the theme parks in a responsible and measured way.
