"Backup" Boarding Groups for Rise of the Resistance Now Available at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Due to the incredible popularity of the newStar Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction, Disney's Hollywood Studios will be distributing backup boarding groups starting from today (Monday, December 16, 2019).
Backup boarding groups will only be called if all of the initial planned boarding groups have been called back and there is capacity for more riders. This usually happens on days when the attraction isn't affected by too many technical issues.
Joining a backup boarding group does not guarantee access to the attraction and Guests will receive a push notification if their boarding group is called. This information will also be available in the My Disney Experience app.
Reminders:
- Guests wanting to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance must enroll in a boarding group within the virtual queue after they enter the park. This can be done in the My Disney Experience app or with the help of the Guest Experience Team located around the park.
- The virtual queue is for attraction access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance only. Virtual queue does not apply to the land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While Guests wait for their boarding group to be called to return to the entrance of the attraction, they can enjoy other areas of the park.
- Guests will only be able to join the virtual queue once per day so that as many Guests as possible have the opportunity to experience the attraction.

How does the virtual queue work? Do I literally just go on the app as soon as I wake up and join the virtual queue?
