Select Areas of Disney Springs to Be Impacted by Grand Opening of NBA Experience on Aug. 12

The new NBA Experience will officially open on August 12 at Disney Springs and several operational adjustments will take place in support of the grand opening media event. Continue reading to learn more:

NBA Experience Operating Hours

• On Aug. 12, NBA Experience will begin admitting Guests at 5 p.m. after the grand opening event has concluded (subject to capacity restrictions). The NBA Store will open at 10 a.m.
• Beginning Aug. 13, NBA Experience will operate noon-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and noon-11:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
• NBA Store will open at 10 a.m. daily, closing at 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Surface Lot Parking and Roadway Restrictions

• From 4 a.m.-noon, access to the Mango and Watermelon parking lots will be restricted to specific media event attendees who have been assigned to park in these lots.
• The ramp from I-4 into the surface lots and the Marketplace valet entrance will be closed from 4 a.m.-noon. All Guests parking in the Strawberry lot will need to enter via the Typhoon Lagoon traffic light intersection. Guests who take the I-4 ramp will be directed onto eastbound Buena Vista Drive or into the Orange Garage during this time.
• Ring Road between AMC Theatres and Orange Garage will not be accessible from 4 a.m.-noon.

West Side Guest Flow

• From 7:30-10:30 a.m., the West Side promenade area around NBA Experience and access behind NBA Experience will be restricted to specific media event attendees.
• All pedestrian traffic will be diverted along Lake Buena Vista around House of Blues and Jaleo.

Product Releases

• A Basketball Mickey Funko Pop figure release is planned for 5 p.m. at the NBA Store. Guests wanting to purchase the Funko Pop will be directed to enter a virtual queue at NBA Store beginning at 10 a.m.
• A special, limited “Basketball Mickey” mousse cake will be available for purchase on Aug. 12 at Amorette’s Patisserie while supplies last. The dessert features Baileys mousse, with a salted caramel mousse center, dark chocolate crisp pearls and Chocolate Chiffon cake.

Grand Opening Viewing Options

• Due to space constrains, in-person viewing of the opening celebration moment at 9:30 a.m. will be limited to invited VIP Guests and media event attendees.
• A limited amount of Guests will be able to watch a live broadcast of the grand opening celebration from one of the AMC theaters beginning at 9 a.m. The live stream will begin at 9:25 a.m.
• The live stream will also be available on the Disney Parks Blog for Guests.

NBA Experience Reminders

• Guests may purchase NBA Experience tickets at the NBA Store or Disney Ticket Center. Tickets are also available online at DisneyWorld.com/NBAExperience.
• All Guests who enter the NBA Experience will be required to sign a waiver (children will require a parent/legal guardian’s signature).
• Guests must wear footwear at all times in the experience and athletic shoes are recommended.
• Tickets provide one-day admission to NBA Experience and can be used for reentry on the same day.
• All food and beverages should be covered.
