This week: Disney’s Boardwalk Resort opened on July 1, 1996. The resort boasts an atmosphere of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City and features shopping, dining and entertainment options along a picturesque boardwalk.

1975 – WEDway PeopleMover, known today as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover, opens at Magic Kingdom Park
1994 – Innoventions opens at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort
1996 – Disney’s BoardWalk Resort opens at Walt Disney World Resort
2011 – Goofy’s Sky School (formerly Mulholland Madness) opens at Disney California Adventure Park
2016 – Disney Springs Grand Opening Summer Celebration kicks off at the Walt Disney World Resort
July 2
1967 – Carousel of Progress, PeopleMover, Rocket Jets and Tomorrowland Terrace opens at Disneyland Park
2007 – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas opens
July 3
1985 – Tinker Bell makes her first flight from Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park
July 4
1956 – Indian War Canoes (now Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes) opens at Disneyland Park
1987 – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opens at Tokyo Disneyland Park
July 5
1988 – Maelstrom boat ride attraction opens in the Norway pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot
July 6
1994 – Groundbreaking held for The Disney Institute at the Walt Disney World Resort
July 7
2000 – Ikspiari Shopping, dining, and entertainment area opens adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland
2006 – Pirates of the Caribbean reopens at Magic Kingdom Park with Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa Audio-Animatronics added to the attraction
