Limited-Time Dining Experience Inspired by "The Lion King" Coming to Jiko

Walt Disney World Resort Guests are invited to celebrate the circle of life with a new, limited-time dining experience inspired by “The Lion King!” This summer, Jiko—The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will celebrate the beloved story of Simba with a special menu and entertainment.

The dining experience will commemorate the characters, culture and compelling story of Disney’s “The Lion King.” This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the Disney original animated classic, as well as the upcoming debut of the 2019 live action film.

Jiko—The Cooking Place regularly transports its Guests to the heart of Africa with its authentic cuisine and boutique South African wines. As part of this new dining experience, Guests can choose to enjoy an exclusive three-course menu crafted, as well as the main menu they know and love at Jiko. While this menu changes seasonally, it always includes flavorful appetizers, entrees and desserts, as well as plenty of options for children.

The talented chefs at Jiko have crafted an exclusive three-course menu that is a one-of-a-kind culinary celebration. The courses include:

• “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” starter: featuring Young Cedar Creek clam malata, potatoes, pomegranate, and a bone marrow finish
• “Be Prepared” choice of two entrées: Bone-In Ribeye with hibiscus, nettles, and fregula or Lobster Sosatie with red shrimp, squid, mussels, and fragrant rice
• “Hakuna Matata” dessert: features caramelized orange, chocolate choux and playful foliage
• “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” finale: friandeses and teas to cap off your meal

These delicious offerings may be accompanied by two different levels of wine pairings to enhance the dining experience. The exclusive three-course prix fixe menu is $65 per person, tax and gratuity not included.

As each dinner unwinds, live music will move us all. Wildly talented musicians will entertain Guests with the award-winning soundtrack of “The Lion King” and vibrant African melodies. Guests will be serenaded by a variety of selections, including Congolese rumbas, soukous, acoustic Afropop, and of course, an occasional salute to “The Lion King,” including both its cinematic film and Broadway soundtracks.

The limited-time dining experience inspired by “The Lion King” will delight prides beginning June 30, 2019.
