This Week in Disney History: March 5-11
There’s always a great, big, beautiful tomorrow at The Walt Disney Company, because every day is tied to a milestone in the heritage and rich history of a company that has been entertaining millions of people every year. Published every week, this interesting series features highlights from all the divisions of The Walt Disney Company. Let's see what happened this week:
This week: Fifth anniversary of “Croissant de Triomphe” and the new “Mickey Mouse” cartoon series
What do you get when you combine the slapstick feel of classic Disney cartoon shorts with contemporary direction and pacing? A brand-new series of short-form cartoons that remind us just how much we love Mickey Mouse. The “Mickey Mouse” series first debuted this week in Disney history when “Croissant de Triomphe” was launched on Disney.com. In the short, Mickey finds himself attempting to deliver croissants to Minnie in France, and along the way must battle comic obstacles such as Parisian traffic. The new animation style combines character elements from the 1920s and 1930s. Other “Mickey Mouse” shorts have seen Mickey and his pals in locations around the world, and each displays the determination, optimism and humor that Mickey is known for. A new attraction based on the series, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is currently in development at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort.
