Epcot's New Guardians of The Galaxy Ride will Be a Roller Coaster
During a special event held on October 1 as part of Epcot's 35th anniversary celebrations, Melissa Valiquette (the Vice President of Epcot) officially confirmed to attendees that the new attraction replacing the Universe of Energy pavilion will be a roller coaster. While this might not come as a surprise to most theme park fans, that was the very first time a representative of the Walt Disney World Resort officially confirmed to the general public that this new addition will be a thrill ride.
To support construction for the Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired attraction in Future World East, backstage barricades are now installed near the Walt Disney Imagineering campus in the area located directly behind the Wonders of Life pavilion.
In addition to that, more construction walls now surround the front of the Universe of Energy building (they were installed overnight on Friday, October 6).
The new attraction is scheduled to open to Guests before Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in 2021.
