Disney's Animal Kingdom Update: Rivers of Light Changes (PART 2)
Thank you for joining us for he second part of our newest Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park photo-report. Don't forget to check out PART 1 of this update by clicking on this link.
In the previous part, we walked around Discovery Island, Pandora - The World of AVATAR, Africa, and Asia. The rest of this photo-tour will take you to DinoLand U.S.A. and will highlight some changes that we recently noticed when enjoying Rivers of Light. We hope you will enjoy the pictures!
Most of DINOSAUR's effects are still working. We are happy to see that.
Leaving DinoLand:
Sunset Serenatas is hands down our favorite nighttime offering:
Rivers of Light:
The show is about to begin:
The Acolytes (the characters that are featured on the boats during the show) now walk around both amphitheaters before the show begins. This is very similar to what took place in the preview of the show that we attended last year (the show was originally 18 minutes long and started with the Acolytes walking around the theaters and then boarding the boats):
Aside from the amazing soundtrack, we find the show to be very disappointing:
The show was originally supposed to include more than 100 floating lanters:
Color-coded parking trams continue to be seen around the parking lot of Animal Kingdom:
The red one is the newest addition:
The green tram has been transporting Guests for months:

I just cannot agree, Animal Kingdom is bottom of the barrel and seems to be filled with rides based on forgotten movies, many boring walkways and just more cheap unfinished feeling then Hollywood Studios. How many years has the Yeti been broken at this point. Who can even remember the AVATAR or Dinosaur movies?
ReplyDeleteI can't stand this park.
Don't agree entirely with CaptJapan but the Yeti issue is definitely a concern. I think the well designed walkways and waterways distinguish AK from the other Parks. Variety, as they say, is the spice of life and I don't want every Park to mirror the others. I admit that I had my concerns over the Avatar franchise but I have to admit that it looks spectacular and you don't necessarily have to link it to the movie to enjoy the area.
ReplyDeleteJust saying...................
I really love Animal Kingdom, and enjoyed the Rivers of Light show when I saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Pandora is an amazing addition - and I could ride Flights of Passage all day long - it's my new favourite ride! (And I'm not a big fan of the film). I like that there's different things at the parks so everyone can find something they enjoy :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Yeti is no longer broken! WoooHoo! Of course, it does not work like it used to. Disney has declared that the Yeti will not be fixed. That the current functions of the Yeti are the new standard. It is no different than any other change to a ride or attraction. I admit its a downgrade, but it is not going to change, therefor it is not broken. It is simply not as good as it used to be.
