LEGOLAND Florida Currently Closed Due to Bomb Threat
About an hour ago, LEGOLAND Florida Resort (including the theme park and the adjacent hotel) temporarily closed to Guests. The park tweeted the following advisory: "A bomb threat was discovered on our property. We have evacuated the theme park & hotel for the safety and security of guests and employees."
Very few details are available at this time, but the LEGOLAND Florida Resort will continue to monitor the situation and will release more information soon.
According to News13, Winter Haven Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office and Polk County Sheriff's Office are still investigating the threat. No injuries reported, and the park will remain closed the rest of the day as a precaution. LEGOLAND Florida is expected to operate normally tomorrow.
UPDATE (3:45 p.m.): Adrian Jones, General Manager of the LEGOLAND Florida Resort released an official statement about the bomb threat just a few minuted ago. Here it is:
"Earlier today, LEGOLAND Florida Resort received an anonymous bomb threat and we quickly made the decision to evacuate our theme park and hotel according to our established safety protocols. This decision was made in an abundance of caution at the advice of law enforcement. The safety of our guests and employees is - and will remain - our No. 1 priority. Our theme park will remain closed today so that Winter Haven Police Department can finish its investigation. We'll work with all guests to address any requests for ticket or hotel changes and refunds. We'll share more details as soon as they're available."
