Animal Kingdom Update: A Look Around the New Theater
We are less than two weeks away from the debut of many of the new nighttime offerings that will delight Guests after the sun goes down at Animal Kingdom.
While the opening of the Rivers of Light show has been delayed (recent rumors say that it could open in July), a temporary nighttime spectacular themed after the live action version of the Jungle Book movie will open in its place, allowing park Guests to check out the new amphitheater built next to the Discovery River.

Before we get to that part of the park, let's see what's new around the other areas of Animal Kingdom:
First of all, work continues in the future site of Pandora:
Discovery Island:
Let's take a look around the Riverside Depot store:
The theming inside the shop is great:
In Africa, walls are still up in front of the facade representing a typical Guest House:
The building is located across from the Harambe Market:
The pathway behind the Tree of Life continues to be widened:
The Cementosaurus has been repainted:
It looks better with this color scheme:
The same dinosaur also sports the same color scheme on all the signs and photo-ops around the area:
since we are in the area, here's the list of toppings available at the Restaurantosaurus:
Let's now take a quick look around the new Rivers of Light amphitheater:
This is the DinoLand U.S.A. side:
The speakers were recently covered:
Touch points can be found on both sides of the amphitheater:
This is one of the sections reserved for Guests using wheelchairs and ECVs:
The wall appears to be a little taller than it should in this section:
We are now heading to the other half of the amphitheater, located in Asia:
This must be one of the most themed control booths ever:
Rocks and trees can be found all around the area:

Really like Asia. But they've overdone the prayer flags, it's almost oppressive to walk through. And they're all one of only a few layouts, so the flags look more like the town ordered a few dozen strings from Oriental Trading Co and just strung them around to make tourists happy.
ReplyDeleteAgree to disagree. I love seeing the mass of flags blowing in the wind. It helps the new construction feel real to me. The cementosaurus looks better in green, for sure...
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great update!
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you on the Dino
ReplyDeleteThe flags are just a little nit to pick, Asia remains my favorite area of AK if not WDW entirely.
I do like the flags but can see that now they are using them way too much. Asia is the best themed area. The details are amazing.
