Disney's Hollywood Studios Update: Expansion Starts Soon

After having talked about this for years, we are finally getting close to the start of the work related to the major expansion of Disney's Hollywood Studios.
In the past few days, some of the park's character greeting locations closed to the public; that being said, walls have not been installed around those areas yet. Today we will take a general look around the park to take a quick look at what has changed since our last visit. As you'll see, the park is still quite busy.

Welcome to Hollywood Studios:

The Disney Side sign is still visible just outside the park's gates:

Walking down Hollywood Boulevard:

The new stage has not been removed:

The new "Adventure Happens Here" dance party takes place here every afternoon:

The Frozen sing-along is still going strong:

Star Wars: Path of the Jedi seems to have a new sign now:

Star Tours has a 40-minute wait:

The new sign of the Jedi Training - Trails of the Temple show:

The Muppet area:

The Phineas & Ferb/Cars character greeting areas are now empty:

Crowds exit the stunt show stadium:

The Osborne lights are slowly being removed from the Streets of America:

The former Backlot Tour entrance is once again unused. We hope to see something happen here:

Pixar Place is still one of the busiest areas of the park (as always):

A new sign invites Guests to check out the temporary Mickey Mouse character greeting location:

No more previews of "The Good Dinosaur":

Animation Courtyard:

Sunset Boulevard:

And that is all for now. Before concluding, remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. 1. You guys have quite the challenge ahead in trying to capture the new work behind the walls!

If only satillites didn't cost so much...

  2. Lots of coats and sweatshirts...I guess the weather is a bit chilly right now

  3. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but they didn't break ground yet on Toy story land right?

  4. I really hope they add more to this billion dollar expansion, I know star wars land will definitely suck up more of the money than TSL but I was hoping for a revamp somewhere too, a lot of the studios just look old! I would for them too add one more attraction not connected to either of the two new lands!

  5. The few (and there are very few) bonafide 'insiders' around the forums speak of a couple more phases that could eventually revamp the remainder, but these folks are very cautionary that nothing is set in stone, and we've all been disappointed before.

I'd vote for Disney to totally close the place for a couple of years and just go light speed into a new era.

  6. Many people complain about Epcot's Future World lacking focus, but I think Future World is much more thematically cohesive than the Studios...these pictures just make the place look like an ugly, half-abandoned, dumpy mess.

  7. No doubt the place looks very confused, the whole park needs a redo. I would rather them revamp the whole park and add a few new attractions then blow all this money on two new lands. Yes Star Wars Land will be amazing but once you step outside that land the park will still be.... lacking to say the least!
