LEGOLAND Hotel Restaurant Features Organic Ingredients
As shared on the official blog of the LEGOLAND Florida Resort, "when guests visit the brand-new LEGOLAND Hotel... they can also enjoy creative food and beverages made with many fresh, organic ingredients sourced locally. Some are really local. As in right out of the hotel’s backyard. As Executive Chef James Boheim explained, items grown in the hotel’s garden are incorporated into many dishes offered at Bricks Family Restaurant and the nearby Skyline Lounge.
At LEGOLAND Hotel in Florida, Chef James and his culinary team have partnered with local farmers, horticulturalists and landscapers to design a garden that not only looks good, but tastes good too. “It’s beautiful for landscaping but you can also eat it and prepare items with it,” he said.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, Chef James represented LEGOLAND Florida Resort during an exclusive presentation at The Landscape Show, a private event recognized as one of the country’s top nursery and landscape trade shows. Drawing on the creativity of his team, he demonstrated how “edible landscaping” grown in the hotel garden can beautify the property while diversifying its menus.
“We’re trying to say, ‘OK, you have this product in your yard — what do you do with it?’ ” he explained. “You can make vinegars, you can make sauces, you can do all kinds of things. Jams, jellies. More than just a salad.”
Just as LEGOLAND Florida theme park allows kids to unleash their creativity, Chef James makes it his mission to represent their imaginations in his kitchen. “For us, it’s all about the kids,” he said. “That’s what we’re here for. If they like it, they’ll eat it.”
