World Turtle Day Activities at Epcot and Animal Kingdom
World Turtle Day will be celebrated on Thursday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Epcot's The Seas with Nemo & Friends and at Conservation Station (located within Rafiki's Planet Watch) at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Guests of all ages will be able to play turtle-themed games, learn about the threats turtles face and discover how they can help ensure a bright future for turtles. Exclusive cupcakes will also be available around Disney' Animal Kingdom.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends will offer Guests a chance to walk through a turtle-excluder device, the same net fishermen use to allow turtles an escape route if they are accidentally caught in their fishing nets. Guests will also get a chance to play interactive games, including the entanglement activity and Sea Turtle Flop, in which Guests throw turtle coins into squares to highlight the numerous threats turtles face in the wild.
At Conservation Station at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Guests can learn about the threats turtles face by attempting to untangle a plush sea turtle from fishing line with the added difficulty of "flippers," try on a life-size turtle shell for size, help a sea turtle find the safest route to its nesting site and more.
Guests can take away temporary tattoos, buttons and information about our turtle conservation projects including Tour de Turtles. Vet procedures will focus on turtles, and some of the turtles that live at Disney's Animals Kingdom Theme Park will be there for up-close meet and greets around the building.
