Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer have proclaimed the week of May 25 - 29 as Project: Time Off Week, encouraging all of Central Florida to do just that – take a staycation – and participate in the excitement surrounding IPW, the largest generator of travel to the United States and global showcase for this year’s host market, Orlando.
Thousands of travel industry executives, journalists and influencers from more than 70 countries will be coming to Orlando May 30-June 3 for IPW. These heavy hitters will spend five days learning about the latest and greatest in both U.S. Travel and the host market – generating nearly $2 billion in future travel to Orlando and Central Florida.
By taking a staycation in our own state we will be able to show our guests how those billions should be spent – all that the amazing Central Florida area has to offer, both old and new – by supporting the individuals, businesses, attractions that make us all proud to call Orlando and Orange County home.
Each day during the Project: Time Off week has a different staycation challenge for participants:
- Monday 5/25: Attractions & Lodgings Day
- Tuesday 5/26: Food & Shopping Day
- Wednesday 5/27: Arts, Culture & Sports
- Thursday 5/28: Handmade, Handcrafted & Small Business Day
- Friday 5/29: Outdoors & Golf Day
The Orlando Theme Park News Team will participate in this fun initiative by sharing on social media some examples of locations that Floridians could visit each day of this special week. Be sure to join the conversation using #ProjectTimeOff on Facebook and Twitter. Show others how much you love Florida!
