SeaWorld Donates 11,000 Books to Local Schools

On January 28, SeaWorld donated 11,000 “Franklin and Friends” books to Orange County elementary students for “Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida” with a special visit to Fern Creek Elementary School. SeaWorld donated 400 books to children at Fern Creek Elementary. About 120 young children gathered in the auditorium for a special “announcement,” and were surprised when Franklin the Turtle and SeaWorld’s Puck the Penguin were there to greet them. 

After a cheery and interactive presentation, including appearances by some of SeaWorld’s Animal Ambassadors, SeaWorld presented the school with the book donation.

Immediately after the assembly, a SeaWorld educator and Franklin led an interactive storytelling session to a group of lucky pre-kindergarten students in their classroom. The children also met an animal trainer who let them interact with Lucky the sloth. Once the Franklin and Friends story was over, each child was called up to Franklin individually and received their very own “Franklin & Friends” book to take home.

The remaining books were donated to local elementary school children throughout the Orange County Public Schools.

Since 2013, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana have been engaged in a multi-platform partnership that combines the appeal of the popular Franklin and Friends characters with the beloved SeaWorld brand. The two companies teamed up to introduce kids and families to in-park Franklin characters, TV specials, books and merchandise.
