I honestly feel like all Disney has left to do to this park to make it the true re-furb is give Dino-land a make over.
ReplyDeleteThat is what the finale needs to be to make this park probably #2 in Orlando.
Yeah I agree, throw away the idea of a carnival and make it like a forest full of dinosaurs!
ReplyDeleteI agree too! But that would mean to trash the Primeval Whirl attraction (I mean its nothing special) but it is considered a roller coaster. I still feel like AK needs another coaster now. Maybe a winged one!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a flying coaster come to Animal Kingdom
ReplyDeletei would like another dinosaur attraction. maybe a indoor coaster similar to RTR or a dark ride. my biggest issue is i find there is too much space between rides. and the new africa upgrades are only shops for the most part. how about adding a ride based on the lion king i know they have the show but they should really expand on that idea.
ReplyDeleteI would personally much rather see "mystic manor" come to animal kingdom, but if i had to chose a coaster, i would definitely chose "crush's coaster" from walt disney studios park, that would be awesome at animal kingdom!
ReplyDeleteAgreed Miguel, too much walking without enough rides hitting you... same problem Epcot faces :(
ReplyDeleteI doubt they'll touch dinoland for now because it can operate at night, so that won't be part of the expansion for ak. Although I would like to see another E-Ticket be added besides avatar land for this expansion
ReplyDeleteI've always thought Crush's Coaster would be a perfect replacement for Primeval Whirl. It would be right next to the Nemo Show and could be called a new land. Very popular ride in Paris. They could create a kids section by adding A Bug's Land near Tough to be a Bug for the kiddies like in DCA.
ReplyDeleteAll that empty land north of Kali River Rapids would be great for a US version of Mysterious Island like Tokyo DisneySea. Put JTTCOTE, a new version of 20,000 Leagues, a new restaurant and near the bridge going to the island put Mystic Manor. The idea is that these are all actual attractions in Asia so they would go in the Asia section of the park. Combined with Avatar, AK would be absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think the distance between rides at Animal Kingdom is what makes the park better. Take some time out to look at the animals on Discovery Island, take your time watching gorillas then stroll over to Asia. This park encourages discovery and walking.
ReplyDeleteHere's the caption for the picture--
ReplyDelete" Ok... then... I give up..... what is it?"
Jon81uk - I agree 100%.
ReplyDeleteAK is not meant to be a ride packed amusement park. MK is that.
If all one wants is back to back rides, then AK, -WDW in general- is NOT where one should be spending their money.
One of the coolest things that our kids (and family) have ever done at any Disney theme park is to do all of the Wilderness explorer activities. I would highly recommend this for anyone with kids (5-12) who has "been there, done that." in Animal Kingdom. It really forced us to slow down and enjoy some of the things in the park that we had previously just seen out of the corner of our eyes as we whizzed past.
ReplyDeleteI think too think the makeover of the Dinoland would make this park a genuine hit. There is so much potential with the Dino theme, both from an educational and attraction standpoint.
They could build something like Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong Disneyland, maybe with a dino theme. If they removed Primeval Whirl, there's enough room there and if it crossed under the entrance (like Big Grizzly does) to Dinosaur, and/or even go around it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they DON'T add a flying coaster. Those are gimmicky and even the coaster enthusiasts don't like them. Disney would never add such a ride anyway, at least not like the current ones (intense/fast).

Its exciting to see all of the changes and additions coming to AK. I'm curious how the nighttime show will affect the animals in the park. With pyrotechnics and such seen in a lot of Disney's night shows I could see this causing an issue with the animals. It would be kinda cool to have a World of Color type show at AK though.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was stepping on a plane to visit Walt Disney World I expect not a mediocre petting zoo, a guy with a guitar and a woman with a snake, I could have stayed in Amsterdam and see the same and more.
ReplyDeleteExcept for Fun Spot with Dino theme this park had (before the contraction of more shops and restaurants, not rides) the best views.
To Last Anon: if you came to AK and all you saw was a mediocre petting zoo, a guy with a guitar and a woman with a snake you seriously did not open your eyes or guide map. Do you have a safari ride in Amsterdam? Walk though animal trails with amazing habitats and guides? Everest? Shows like Nemo and Lion King?
ReplyDelete@Bob Chelsea: YOU WIN. That was very funny, loved it!
ReplyDeleteNo, we don't have that in Amsterdam.....
ReplyDeleteTrue, in Amsterdam you'll see a woman with a snake, but at AK the snake is on a tray!
