Wood Carver Andrew Moves to Animal Kingdom Lodge
The team at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge will soon welcome Andrew Mutiso, an African wood carver that has also worked around Guests for many years at the African Outpost at Epcot. Andrew will now be selling his craft to Guests at Zawadi Marketplace throughout October 2014. Many Guests requested authentic carved African animals, so the decision was made to invite Andrew to do wood carving in the hotel's merchandise shop, which will then go on sale.
Andrew will be at Zawadi Marketplace from 7-10 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout October. After the business and Guest impact of Andrew's artwork will be evaluated, he may be there more or less often (it is unclear whether he will also be found at Epcot during those days).
Although the live wood-carving experience only occurs from 7-10 p.m. on select nights, the finished wood carvings will be available for purchase throughout the day. Pricing will range from $20 to $700.
