Old Town Removing All Rides on Property to Expand
Old Town is an old-style shopping, dining, and entertainment center that focuses on attracting both tourists and locals with is unique restaurants, themed shops, and off-the-shelf rides (with the exception of the Windstorm Coaster). In the past few years, Old Town has had a difficult time surviving, mostly due to nearby competition and the economy. A few years ago, new management tried to reinvent Old Town to create an overall better experience. It looks like things are starting to change again.
Just yesterday, the following message was posted the Facebook page by Old Town's management:
"As many of you are aware, Old Town has begun a new phase of growth and improvement. At this time, the classic amusement rides have been closed and will be removed from the property to make way for future expansions.
The Go Cart rides, Laser Tag, Arcade, Rootin’ Tootin’ Shooting Gallery and The Haunt will all remain open for your families enjoyment. Thank you so much for your patience during this exciting time. - Old Town Management"

Here you are the current map of Old Town, showing the rides located on both ends of the property:
Based on the message, the following rides and attractions are now closed and waiting to be removed:
- Bumper Cars
- Carousel
- Tilt-A-Whirl
- Flying Tea Cups
- Frog Hopper
- Jump Around
- Motorcycle Jump
- Quad Runner
- Wacky Worm
- The Drop Zone Super Shot
- Windstorm Roller Coaster
The management of Old Town has still not officially announced what this expansion will entail, but we can clearly see that it will not involve the return of any kind of amusement rides. We expect to see more shops and dining locales to improve revenue, as rides have proven to be even less popular at Old Town since the opening of the nearby Fun Spot America park. What do you think? Will you still visit Old Town in the future?
Wonder if Fun Spot will swoop in and buy any of these?
