New Harambe Theater Opening June 1 at Animal Kingdom
Beginning Sunday, June 1, 2014 Guests will be able to enter inside the new Harambe Theatre for the very first Guest-viewing of the beloved Festival of the Lion King show since its relocation from Camp Minnie-Mickey back in January of this year. The new theater, and entire additional section of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, is sure to be a highlight for Guests visiting the park as it fits the atmosphere of Harambe perfectly.
While the beloved songs and elements of Festival of the Lion King haven’t changed since its performance in Camp Minnie-Mickey, this move has allowed them to refresh and refurbish the floats, enhance the lighting for the show and make improvements in the “back of house” facilities.
The new area of Harambe also includes a merchandise kiosk location, called Mariya’s (pronounced Maria’s) that will sell Lion King-inspired memorabilia including plush, toys and trading pins along with select consumable items and more.
Festival of the Lion King shows will be performed on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. daily. The final show time will be determined by park hours. For the first week, show times are as follows (June 1-7, 2014):
- Sun-Wed, Fri: 10 a.m, 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m.
- Thurs, Sat: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m.
We'll make sure to check out this brand-new facility during our next visit to the park. We can't wait!
