Disney Springs Project News and Updates (March 2014)
Work continues around the Downtown Disney area as this entertainment complex slowly morphs into Disney Springs. Many different building are closed, replaced, and/or demolished, new businesses open up, restaurants get added, and new attractions are expected come in the near future. That said, it may be a bit complicated to keep up with all the different things going on at once in the area, and it can be frustrating going to Downtown Disney and not knowing that something might be unavailable during your visit. But there's some help.
In fact, here you are a quick snapshot of several projects underway this week at the Downtown Disney Area:
- Watercraft routes are temporarily changing as work on the Marketplace Causeway continues. When complete by the end of this year, this over-the-water pedestrian causeway will connect Guests from the LEGO Imagination Center to Rainforest Café at Downtown Disney Marketplace.
- Work has started on phase 1 of a series of elevated spaces along the West Side promenade that will provide shade, with one structure offering an overlook to the activity below. These elements will be built over the next several months and will be complete in spring 2015. During the project, expect to see construction walls in limited areas throughout the West Side, including across from the grass area near Bongos Cuban Cafe and next to the Starbucks project site.
- Bridge 4 between the West Side and Pleasure Island is temporarily closed through this fall as work on The Landing (currently Pleasure Island) continues. Additional temporary closures include the “top of the hill” on Pleasure Island and the nearby Bridge 4 restrooms.
- Work is in progress at the Lilly Pad near Fulton’s Crab House and Portobello to prepare the area for The Landing. This work is expected to be complete this summer.
We will soon share with you a new Downtown Disney photo-report to help you better visualize the current status of the work.
