Nov. 14, 1995 - Disney Magic is announced as the name of the first Disney Cruise Line ship
Since 1998, Disney Cruise Line has been blending modern amenities with the grandeur of classic ocean liners, offering Guests the ability to enjoy a Disney Vacation out on the open seas. On this day in 1995, Disney Cruise Line announced that they would be welcoming their very first ship, Disney Magic, to what would become a majestic fleet of four. The 84,000-ton flagship cruise liner was constructed in the legendary Fincantieri shipyards in Italy and set sail on its 14-day maiden voyage in 1998. Today the ship boasts 11 expansive decks with a total length of 984 feet and room for over 2,000 passengers. Although smaller in comparison to her sister ships, the Disney Magic still offers the finest in artistry and technology, and has recently undergone a complete re-imagineering process which has introduced a variety of new offerings and experiences for cruisers. Nov. 10, 2006 - Walt Disney is the first to be honored with a star on Anaheim’s Walk of Fame
As a part of its 150th anniversary celebration, the city of Anaheim honored Walt Disney with the very first solid granite star on the Walk of Stars - a place of prominence where recipients are honored for their achievements and contributions to the city and the surrounding Orange Country area. Each three-foot by three-foot stone, dotted along the sidewalks of the Resort District, pays tribute to political leaders, celebrities, entrepreneurs and local notables who have ties to the Orange County district. Disneyland Resort president in 2006, Ed Grier, accepted the star on behalf of Walt saying that it honored his great legacy and was one of more to come. Visitors to the Anaheim Resort on Harbor Boulevard can find Walt’s star nestled fittingly near the main entrance to the Magic Kingdom.
