CONFIRMED: Pixar Parade & Show Closing at DHS

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, there were some strong rumors saying that both the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade and the Disney Channel Rocks! show at Disney's Hollywood Studios would be closing very soon. Well, here's the official advisory regarding this important update, released by Disney:

"We regularly and carefully review the entertainment offerings in our parks and make adjustments. As a result, the last performance of the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade and Disney Channel Rocks! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be Saturday, April 6, 2013. Although we are not adding a new parade at this time, we are always evaluating and refining our offerings and considering new ideas to build upon Disney stories."

While we definitely appreciate the efforts of all the Cast Members who were involved in bringing both of these shows to life every single day of the year, we have to say that we are really glad to see these two entertainment offerings disappearing. The parade was a complete mess (it was actually a shorter version of the Block Party Bash Parade, which was already more of a dance party than a parade...), and the Disney Channel Rocks! show was also a recycled version of the former High School Musical show(nothing to miss, believe us).

  1. Do you think this is a first step to prepare things for a Hollywood studios Expansion/Remodel?

I sure hope so, although I love all Four Parks in my opinion the one with the most room for improvement is Hollywood Studios.
Would love to see a PixarLand, would settle even for some Cars Land Elements, and/or StarWars Areas.

  2. It would also be great if WDI were to dust off and revisit the plans for the Muppet Studios and Roger Rabbit's Hollywood areas that were proposed/almost got built at DHS in the early 90's.

  3. Great news!
I hope we get more entertainment on DHS mainstreet that is fitting to the erea and the time the theme is.
Also I hope the park will make a transition from "look we are a real movie studio and this is how you make movies" into "this parks makes you feel you are in Hollywood and we take you into all these great movies". So gone are Indy, Cars stunt show, backlot tour etc and redeveloped are the outside of Star Wars and the streets into awesome movies.

  4. They really need to replace the little mermaid and beauty and the beast shows.

  5. I agree that this wasn't Disneys best parade, but it still has a lot of current characters that today's kids identify with. I think my daughter knows the characters from Ratatouille, Incredibiles, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, Up, and Toy Story A LOT better than she knows Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and many of Disneys older characters. I think ditching this parade and all of these great pixar characters is a big mistake. Pixar and their great movies are driving Disney right now, not Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast and all of the old movies. If anything, they need to incorporate MORE pixar characters, not less.
