Guest Post: Looking Forward to 2013's Additions
Today we wanted to share with our readers another new Guest Post. As a reminder, Guests Posts are created by outside companies, and are NOT written by the OTPN Staff. This particular post reminds us of only some of the many new attractions and experiences coming to the theme parks here in Central Florida. As usual, we hope you will enjoy it:

What to Look Out For in Orlando 2013
Next year is going to be an exciting one for the theme parks of Orlando so for those of you planning a Theme Park holiday in 2013 here is a round-up of some of the new features and attractions to look out for.
Disney World Parks
Oz: The Great and Powerful: To celebrate the upcoming release of a Disney’s take on the magical world of Oz, they are constructing an Oz themed area as part of Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. The Land of Oz will be opening on March 6th. The area will have both an Oz movie garden as well as an interactive play area for the kids where they can discover the crashed hot air balloon of Oscar Diggs. There are plenty of opportunities for fun and photographs.
2013 is going to be an exciting year for the Disney parks. The Magic Kingdom will still be basking in the glow of the grand opening of the Fantasyland expansion which is sure to breathe some new life into the original Disney park. It is great because it gives returning guests new reasons to keep coming back. As well as the parts that opened early in December there are still some exciting new arrivals to look forward to such as the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which is set to open either late 2013 or early 2014.
Looking even further into the future, work will begin this year for the Avatar land which is going to be located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will be ready for the grand opening in 2016.
Seaworld
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is a new attraction to Sea World Orlando coming in the spring of 2013. The ride itself is a trackless simulator that takes you on the journey of a young penguin. You can choose your level of intensity as the ride takes you slipping and sliding through the icy landscape of the Antarctica.
International Drive
As part of a new development, parts of International Drive are being transformed into exciting new attractions. The famous waxwork museum Madame Tussaud’s is expected to open in 2013 along with a large sea-life aquarium. Another exciting feature of this development will be the opening of The Orlando Wheel. The 425 ft tall wheel will function in much the same way as the London Eye and will provide a thirty minute journey up into the air to see the sights of the city of Orlando as you’ve never seen them before.
Fun Spot Attractions
Fun Spot have been somewhat overlooked when it comes to the main attractions in Orlando. However this year they are upping their game. They have purchased 10 additional acres of land that will house some big new attractions including two new rollercoasters, one steel and one wooden, and a 250 ft Skycoaster ride. The developments will be done in stages with the first parts opening in Spring of 2013.

Of course, even though it is not mentioned in the post, the Universal Orlando Resort will also unveil the new Transformers Ride and a new Simpsons themed area next year.

When you call an article "what to look out for in Orlando 2013" and you promise in the intro to write down the "features and attractions to look out for" then you should do just that.
ReplyDeleteSo Disney is adding a temporary kiddy playground during the Flower and Garden festival. The rest was new for 2012 or will open later. That's all for 2013. Yes 2012 was wonderfully, and Disney will roll out Fastpass+ further during 2013 (the horror) but that's of course not a ride or something.
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is not just a ride, it a completely immersive environment with restaurants, shops and a new animal encounter area. Why failing to mention the biggest expansion for Sea World is beyond me.
Then even missing out on the whole Universal expansion for 2013 is showing a lack of knowledge.
The "head of digital marketing at The Top Villas" for sure doesn't show any knowledge of what tourists can look for in 2013. This is not the kind of article that should be on a quality site like Orlando Theme Park News.

ReplyDeleteExcusing the massive blunder that this article is ignoring the wonderful things Universal is planning for 2013, it is a shamefully stupid piece on what is otherwise one of the most outstanding theme park websites EVER.
ReplyDeleteThe Guest Posts I've read thus far have been embarrassingly terrible and they should cease at once. OPN needs to stick to what it does best and quit letting these "Guests" have the microphone.
