OTPN Announcement: Right-Click Function Disabled

- EDIT: WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING AT OTHER WAYS TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE -

The Orlando Theme Park News Team would just like to announce to our Readers the introduction of a new function that has been deemed necessary. Due to the fact that a few websites are continuing to copy and paste all (and we mean ALL) of our photos on their pages without even posting a link back to us, we had to completely remove the right-click function for images only. This means that our images, logos, and copyrighted photos cannot be copied and pasted in bulks onto other web pages.

Of course, we are aware of the fact that many people want to save some of our images for their personal use or to post them on another website including a link back to our page, but you can still do that. Just follow these very quick steps:
  1. Shrink (reduce the size of) the webpage that contains the image(s) you want to save;
  2. Open your "pictures folder" and put both windows side-by-side;
  3. Just click and hold the image with your left button on your mouse and let it drop in the folder.
  4. (ADDITIONAL STEP) Upload on Minus/Photobucket/TinyPic and post on website (with link).
And that's it! We certainly hope you will understand the reasons behind this (possibly) temporary change, but we would like to be given credit for the hard work we do every single day to put together our photo-reports.

Thank you very much, and feel free to comment and share your thoughts with us on the subject.

  1. This is a major negative change. I can no longer right click to open articles in to a new tab in my browser. Have you considered any other solution such as water marking the photos, or suing the offending websites for copyright violation? I am really hoping you can fix this quickly, before the next multi part photo update comes out.

  2. His Excellency Jeff, thank you for your feedback. That issue has been solved. Try to open a webpage on a new tab now to see if it works.

  3. When you copy a part of the text in front and after the photo's you stil can copy it.
    I think it's good you try to protect them but this doesn't work. And I'm not even a internet specialist.

  4. Disabling the right-click won't stop those who are computer saavy and know an easy way to get around it. A light watermark in the middle of the image is probably the best way to go.

  5. Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, we need to do something because we have noticed that our photos end up in many places around the internet without receiving the proper credit.

    Greg, unfortunately we think it would require a lot of time to edit the pictures and include a watermark, as we post easily more than 100 photos a day many times...

  6. There are free tools that will allow you to add watermarks quickly. One I found in 30 seconds of searching is called "TSR Watermark Image Software"

  7. I have to say, this is a negative. As a blogger I've sometimes re-posted your images and even some of your articles giving proper credit along with a link, while I know other's aren't that nice in giving credit it's a step backwards. I have to agree that a watermark would probably be the better idea.
    Many people gather information online about theme parks from dozens of sources, making it hard to copy/paste isn't really doing much as I looked myself. With one small add-on to firefox anyone can look at your code and simply copy from there. I agree and wish there was a better way as I've found my personal images used other places without credit, but that's part of the inherent problems with the internet. I've recently started using watermarks on my own personal photos and that has seemed to cut down on the problem.

  8. Tone down the ego boss. I've got a yearly pass to all the parks and if I had the time, I could take all the same photos that you take. It's theme parks. You're not curing cancer. Let people use the photos!!

  9. @Last Anonymous: We are more than happy if people use our photos and give proper credit (as Carrie said), but we do not like when people steal our photos without citing the source. That's downright unacceptable. We work hard to put together our photo-updates, and then others have to use all our photos saying that it was their work? No, that's not going to happen again.

  10. Thank you very much for the suggestion, Greg! That seems to be working out very well!
