EPCOT 30: Celebrating the Future (PHOTOS, Part 1)
As all our readers know, Epcot (or, even better, EPCOT Center) recently celebrated its 30th year of operation. Fans from all over the world gathered together to remember "the good, ol' days" of the park, with a focus on some of the most amazing rides ever created by Walt Disney Imagineers and on projects that never saw the light of day for a reason or another.
Lines for the rides and shows were light, while the wait time to enter into Mouse Gears (to be able to see and purchase some special event merchandise) went up to about 90 minutes (that's the time we waited in line. Oh, and did we mention that we were NOT even able to enter?). Hard to believe? Well, let's take a photo-tour of the park to see if we are joking or not:
(NOTE: We apologize in advance for the quality of some of our pictures, as they may appear blurry due to the fact that they had to be taken in a hurry or from far away).

Here we are, standing in front of one of the greatest buildings ever created by Disney:
The special edition park maps included a great timeline of EPCOT Center's history. Here's a look at it (PHOTO: ©Disney. All rights reserved.):
But, here's the start of the line to enter Mouse Gears:
...and it continued...
...and continued...
...and continued (notice the unofficial Dreamfinder with Figment!)...

Here's a map showing you the size of this line:
At the end of the day we were at least able to take a peek inside the store:
The list of the special events taking place in the park during the day:
The last one was definitely the highlight of the day:
The memories...
Most of the special presentations took place in the World Showplace Pavilion:
Great logos:
The "Re-dedication Ceremony" took place in the America Gardens Theater:
Great lectern:
The Mariachi Cobre entered the theater:
As the Dreamfinder would say, "What delightful melodies!":
It was then time for Erin Young to talk:
She is the Vice President of Epcot:
She recognized some of the Mariachi that have been at park since it opened. Here you are a few of them:
It's time for the voices of Liberty:
This particular lady has been at the park since October 1, 1982:
It's time for Jim to talk:
He's the Senior Vice President of Operations:
Meg Crofton, President of the Walt Disney World Resort:
We see something interesting behind those trees...

That line for Mouse Gears is insane! I can remember "being trapped" for 90 minutes for the Maelstrom on Christmas Day '08, seemed as though that would never end, I can only imagine what it would be to do the same just to get into MG, especially unsuccessfully.
