Possible New False Killer Whale Spotted at SeaWorld

As you may know, SeaWorld Orlando mourned the loss of their only false killer whale a few months back. The whale was part of the Blue Horizons show, which has been running with one less animal in the past few months. Today, thanks to a photo sent to us by one of our readers (Ben Zwaan, currently visiting Orlando from The Netherlands), we may have a confirmation that a new false killer whale is indeed at SeaWorld:

Even though noting has been confirmed yet, it would be nice to have a new false killer whale in the show. Of course, Jozu (that's the name of the false killer whale that passed away) will be dearly missed. We will continue to keep you up-to-date on the subject.

  1. What that oh no that's not false killer whale people always get mixed up with it. It's a short-finned pilot whale that was rescued in 2011 her name is Freddie and her older sibling is 300 a whale with scholiosis. They don't have anymore false killer whales.

  2. agree with above. Blue Horizons at SWSD has pilot whales. SW most likely moved a whale from CA to FL.

  3. They did not move a whale from San Diego; Fredi was rescued in Key Largo, Florida along with 300. They stranded on the beach, and both were deemed non-releasable. Fredi was a baby at the time and her mom died in the stranding. So she is living here at SWF, and she will be performing in a few months.
