Fun Spot's Expansion: Videos, New Theming Details

In addition to our large photo-gallery of the official Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Fun Spot America Expansion that we posted a couple of days ago, we promised you we would post a few videos of the event.

This first video shows the presentation of some of the V.I.P.'s present at the ceremony:

This second video shows the ceremony itself, with the shoveling of the dirt (indicating the start of the work):

But that is not all! In fact, Mr. Tuten (the Creative Director of Fun Spot Parks, INC.) was so kind to reveals some very juicy new details about this major expansion.

Most of the people reading Orlando Theme Park News know how much we, the owners of the site, love theming and in general the detailed appearance of building and facades so prevalent in all of the theme parks in our area, and we definitely know that most of you also love this aspect of the parks. That's one of the main reasons why you keep going back. Even though Fun Spot's parks are not currently falling into the "theme park" category, this expansion will bring them very near to that status, and the following few hints shared by Mr. Tuten are sure to surprise you:

... I think you will be surprised by just how much of an upgrade we are constructing. We will have two very nicely designed buildings, one at the entry and an 8,000 sq. ft restaurant facility with the SkyCoaster launch on top. We've worked many months with our architects (ACI - who did the Peabody Hotel expansion) to design some very attractive, themed structures. We've also worked with Foster Conant, our landscape architects, to create a well designed, much more lush, park-like setting than we've had in the past. We have a lot of theming planned for the park as well. Budget will determine just how much we will be able to implement in the very beginning as we don't have the billions that Disney has. But, I can say that the plans include a 50ft. tall Statue of Liberty and unique theming for both coasters and the SkyCoaster. I'm working on new graphics and additional theming for all the Go-Kart tracks. Those will go in this fall. I'm also working with an American ride company to design a completely new, uniquely themed, Himalaya style ride, just for Fun Spot America. So I think if you are patient, you will be pleasantly surprised at what Fun Spot will have to offer when we open up our new expansion. I'll release imagery of some of these items in the months to come, but of course we have to save some surprises for the Grand Re-Opening.

As you have read, Fun Spot has a lot of surprises up its sleeve, and this includes what we all love: theming.

This clearly shows how Fun Spot is trying to go above an beyond. They really want to better themselves. They don't just want to add countless rides to their portfolio. They want to add quality rides, including theming. We want to let the people behind this project know that we have always approved and supported this project, but after hearing these details, we are even more excited for what is coming.

It may not be the New Fantasyland, Antarctica, or Transformers, but it is definitely going to be... HUGE!

  1. Fun Spot themselves admit they can't rival the giants of Disney or Universal, but they'll give it a try!

I admire their spirit. They are willing to try to punch well above their weight and I'm more than happy to be rooting for the little guy on this one!
