EXCLUSIVE! New Fantasyland Milestone: Ariel's Here

Today, the Orlando Theme Park News Team was able to witness something that most people would consider superfluous, but that a true theme park fan would consider absolutely great.

While strolling along Storybook Circus (by the way, we will post an incredibly big Fantasyland photo-report tomorrow afternoon), we decided to take a peek through the openings of the walls that separate Storybook Circus from the yet-to-open section of the new Fantasyland Enchanted Forest. At first, it looked like workers were just testing some water features installed near the faux ship that has been placed in front of the "Journey of the Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure" dark ride... but that was not what they were doing.

In fact, we left for a minute or so, but then we thought about going back to take better photos of the ship, and what do we find? Well, the workers were installing the big Ariel figure on the ship itself! Take a look:

As you can see, at first we didn't see Ariel...

But after a few minutes, she was "accompanied" to her very own reserved spot:

As we said before, we will soon have a complete Fantasyland update, so stay tuned!

  5. I'm sorry, but what is wrong with these photos? It is just a statue that they were installing. There is no other way to do this, as the iron bar sticking out from her back was parallel to her front.

  6. Come on. You don't see the humor in Ariel getting felt up by those workers? That's just funny!

  7. What's funny is you can see the imagineers/workers having some giggles over it.

  11. So are they testing the on and off switch for the attraction or is this a demonstation what to do at the meet and greet. Oh come on, thats funny.
Still think it's creapy to see her nailed on a ship wreck.

  12. LOL, everybody had to get in on the act of touching Ariel's... Yeah, just so happens that that's the best place to hold her up. The first two guts were like, "Hey Joe! Get over here and hold this up for us! Might be the only chance you get to do this!"
