Major Change Coming to Magic Kingdom's EMH
A very important change will soon take place at the Magic Kingdom Park starting from next week. In fact, from Sunday, August 26, 2012, Splash Mountain will not be available any longer to Guests attending the evening Extra Magic Hours. Instead, one attraction will be added to the lineup, with others to be added soon:

Magic Kingdom: Important Changes to the Evening Extra Magic Hours
As we continue to evaluate what we offer our Guests, beginning the week of August 26, Magic Kingdom Park will be adding Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room to the list of evening Extra Magic Hours offerings and removing Splash Mountain as part of [this change]. In addition, we will be adding Country Bear Jamboree when it comes back up from refurbishment in mid-October. There are also plans to add offerings from New Fantasyland to the evening Extra Magic Hours later this year. At this time, there are no changes to the AM Extra Magic Hours Offerings at the Magic Kingdom.

As a reminder, the evening Extra Magic Hours will also be cut by one hour starting from next year (more information on that can be found here). These changes make us wonder what Disney is up to. Is Splash Mountain in need of repairs that can only be made during the evening? Are all these cuts related to much bigger projects (that have big budgets) coming in the future? For now, everything is just a guess.
I think splash is in serious need of some work. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, many of the items were not working, and it felt very unloved.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping a significant refit is coming soon!
@Anonymous: That's very disappointing to hear because a major refurb of Splash Mountain is very unlikely, since it just had one from Jan 18–May 26 last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm also disappointed that Splash Mountain will no participate in EMH. It's one of the most popular attractions in the park, and certainly far more popular than the Tiki Room or Country Bears (both of which are just animatronic shows at the end of the day).
Let me get this straight...
ReplyDeleteSplash for Tiki?
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Tiki Room (now that it has been fixed to the original). But when is the last time there has been a 60 minute wait for Tiki Room. Not exactly a "fair" trade.
Oh yes, and I fully agree. Splash needs a good overhaul.
I think it maybe that the ride doesn't get much of a queue after the sun goes down as it takes longer to get dry. I been on in Sept time after the sun gone down and it's been a walk on.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it's so they have more time to do regular maintanence on it, cause it SURE needs it!
