CityWalk Orlando Update: New Guitar Rocks the Cafe
As you have noticed from the title of this update, something new is now slightly changing the appearance of one of Universal's CityWalk most recognized buildings: the Hard Rock Cafe. There are also other minor changes taking place around the area. Let's take a closer look:
First of all, work on some of the thematic elements of the Hollywood Drive-In Golf have been completed:
Also, a lot of new fans are being installed all along the two courses, possibly to make this attraction more appealing to guests even during the hotter hours of the day:
Moving further into the heart of CityWalk, we noticed that the new store replacing the American Express Application Center has still not received a new sign or banner. It is only an unnamed shop:
A lot of life around CityWalk. Hopefully Downtown Disney will soon see as many people visiting:
New benches have been placed along the new boardwalk areas. These are the former benches, currently being removed (some are still in place):
These are the newer benches. Much nicer!:
In addition to that, the newest section of the new boardwalk has been completed and looks great:

The area looks very homogeneous now. Very nice:

Work on the new "PYQ" store continues:
A temporary stage has been set up in the open-air CityWalk theater:

The sign of the Nascar Sports Grille needs to be replaced. Right now:
Now it is time to check out the new addition on the facade of the Hard Rock Cafe:
As you can see, a large guitar has been installed in the same place formerly occupied by the famous car:

And this is all for now. But we want to hear your comments. What do you think about the new icon installed on the restaurant's exterior facade? Like it? Hate it? Don't care? In any case, we'd love to hear what you think!
Think the guitar isn't as much of a photo opportunity as the Cadillac. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me!
ReplyDeleteIs it the same guitar from the old Hard Rock Cafe that was in your last update?
ReplyDeleteI think its probably a different guitar.
ReplyDeleteThe guitar outside the old HRC was cream, this is red.
They could have just painted it of course, but it does look slightly different.
Will be interesting to see what eventually happens to the original guitar...
Thanks again for another cool blog. This is a new guitar of (probably intentionally) undetermined make. The cream colored Fender Stratocaster that overlooks the Hard Rock Hotel's pool is probably the result of HR's licensing agreement with the manufacturer. Interestingly, the guitar that rocks the front of DHS's Rock & Roller Coaster facade is a red Fender Strat. The guitar IS the unofficial Hard Rock signage icon, but the Caddy was distinctive, foreshadowing the one inside over the bar, and will definitely be missed. (It already was!) Please snap a few pics at night so we can check the illumination! Thanks, OTPN.
