WDW Resort: Evening Extra Magic Hours Reduced
If you have ever been to any of the Walt Disney World hotels, you may be familiar with the term "Extra Magic Hours." To give you a quick definition of their purpose, here's the description of this perk as seen on the official Walt Disney World Resort website:
Extended Disney park hours, known as Extra Magic Hours, offer a rare and unique opportunity to enjoy additional time in Walt Disney World parks—above and beyond the standard operating schedule—at no extra charge. This special perk is offered to Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, and Residents and Guests of Golden Oak.
This very valuable offering for Disney Resort guests will soon be scaled down. Indeed, the evening Extra Magic Hours will only last 2 hours starting from January 2013, while there will continue to be 3 extra hours for guests staying at a Disney Resort through December 31, 2012. This news was first reported by an unofficial Walt Disney World fan site called WDWMagic, and it was later confirmed by the Walt Disney World Resort:
Each day, one of the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks opens one hour early or remains open up to 2 hours after regular closing time. Additionally, Disney Water Parks offer Extra Magic Hours during select times of year.
This may sound as something minor to those who have never taken advantage of Extra Magic Hours, but it will be a drastic change for guests that love to stay late in the parks. While regular operating hours may be expanded in the near future, it is also true that Extra Magic Hours help to lessen the amount of people in the parks, giving an opportunity to ride many attractions with little-to-no wait to guests staying up really late.
What do you think? Is this change really an issue for you? Or is it something that won't affect your future vacations? We are definitely interested to hear from you, so feel free to post comments on this regard.
Less hours, no monorail service to hotels. Pretty soon they'll charge for "Celebrating!" buttons.
ReplyDeleteI feel like more resort Guests will find 2 hours to be "easier" to handle than 3, and this could definitely impact those families with young ones who don't feel like they can stay out for the EMH. Also, for those that use EMH as a leisurely time to experience the parks, 2 hours will really cause Guests to cram in a lot more in a shorter time. I think it's going to draw bigger crowds, and I don't think it's a great idea.
