Universal Studios Update: Old Amity Really Changing
The Orlando Theme Park News Team will head to Universal Orlando in just a few hours, but we still have a lot of photos from our last visit to the park, which was about three days ago, so we wanted to share them with you. We certainly hope you enjoy them, and feel free to share comments at the bottom of this update!:
We'll soon post a complete photo-update of the new Universal's Superstar Parade:
More thematic elements added to the projector's new covers:
The entire boardwalk surrounding Lombard's Seafood Grille is now reserved for those guests who bought the dinner package:
A look at the good ole Amity, which is now a... mess:
Lots of machinery:
A view from the pathway:
The Amity bathrooms still stand:
A view form the opposite side:
A view from the other side of the lagoon:
The installation of the midway games near the Simpsons Ride seems to have temporarily stalled:
The other side still has to be changed:
WOW!:
The Spongebob Storepants is great:
The statue of Woody is missing:
A quick view of the interior of the Cafe' La Bamba:
The sign for the character breakfast:
It is a really great place. It is a shame it is only used for breakfast:

We are not sure, but it looks like the Monsters Cafe' was just recently added to Universal's Meal Deal:
The restaurant may be finally out of the "seasonal operation" status:
And this is all:
Thank you for reading! As we said before, feel free to share your opinions and thoughts with us!
Can we expect a Spongebob Storepants update soon?? :)
ReplyDeleteLooking at the unfinished game booth reminds me once again how superior Disney is to Universal. Disney would never allow something to look like that while guests are in the park. Much more "amusement park" than "theme park" mentality. Don't get me wrong. I am still a fan but this really should be avoided.
ReplyDeleteI dislike that roller coaster. Ruins the skyline of the park. Would of better suited IOA.
ReplyDeleteHRRR isn't one of my faves. I really don't like the coaster. The problems it has had really have turned me off from it. As well as the ride's smoothness. Every time we ride it, It is so bumpy it ruins the fun. Great Update!
ReplyDelete@Jason, the definition of a "theme" park is one that is held together by one or more cohesive narratives or themes, not necessarily one that attempts to completely cover up what it really is.
ReplyDeleteBut no, you're right, Disney elects to put up tarps of their facades than let their building rehabs and whatnots hang out all willy-nilly. We'll just ignore the fact that this blatantly screams "work in progress" and kills the alleged "this is a real place illusion" factor. We'll even ignore the fact that it's Disney basically saying "we're so desperate to preserve our hyper-reality that we seem to want people forget that they're in a theme PARK, despite the fact that their wallet is unable to forget this fact because just paid a small fortune to set foot on the grounds they currently stand on." The real point of the pencil here is that this might not have been a stroke of being "not as good as Disney", but a stroke of acceptance on Universal's part. Perhaps they embrace the underlying, undeniable fact that their properties are indeed parks, and that regardless of the prefix in front of this word, no amount of attempted immersion or strokes of hyper-reality can erase the fact that guests will still go up to a snack cart and see a churro being held hostage for a $20 ransom.
