Safety First! - Tree of Life and Safety Nets (PHOTOS)

As we reported some time ago, during the past few weeks there have been some changes taking place inside Disney's Animal Kingdom, specifically around the Tree of Life. Indeed, after an accident (in which nobody was hurt), safety nets have been installed all around the paths found below the Tree, including in the queue of It's Though to be a Bug. Here you are some photos of these new nets:

Some areas around the tree are still completely closed to guests:

What do you think? Are these safety nets an eyesore, or do they blend with the rest of the area? Also, do you think Disney will remove them in the near future and find another way to keep guests safe?

  1. I always think Safety should come first for everything. But if one of those branches were coming down, i don't a net would hold it from coming on to people, its not a real tree its made out of steal.
Hopefully they find a different solution.

  2. What kind of a fix or solution is that? I love those trails around the tree. These nets absolutely ruin that experience.
As a symbol of life, nature and freedom it deserves to be seen in all its majesty and not through the captive sight of nets. We remain hopeful that those at Disney realize this and will in due time return Animal Kingdom’s park icon to its natural state and we will certainly update you on this as time progresses. I HOPE that these are temporary structures.

  3. Dean, the tree superstructure is an oil rig, the tree and limbs we see are all fiberglass. The nets will hold keep you safe.

  4. The true definition of a no win situation. Without the nets those who judge only on hindsight would be screaming about the lack of safety precautions.

I don't like the nets either, but I understand the nets. Lets hope that they come up with a more long term answer.

  6. FIRST YETI and NOW TREE OF LIFE..
    it does ruin Animal Kingdom...
You can't look at the carvings up close now that there are nets, and can't look at the tree of life from far.
You can’t just pretend the netting which distorts your very vision of it doesn’t ruin the masterpiece. Frankly, it does.
    We hope nets are temporary!!!

  7. Maybe I really don't get the structure of the Tree of Life, but isn't there some way to keep the limbs on the tree? I mean, can you image if a boulder came apart from splash Mountain and hit someone? Why can't this tree be more secure? If you need netting, then I think the structure is unsafe. Perhaps the tree has to be remade. Netting seems like such a short term solution, and it appears to take away from the experience.
