Fun Facts About Universal’s Superstar Parade
Crews have been building aspects of Universal’s Superstar Parade for over ten months, and when it opens this Tuesday, May 8, Universal’s Superstar Parade will feature our largest full-time entertainment cast on property! Here are some more fun facts about the parade:
- The parade soundtrack features all-new recordings of songs like “Boogie Fever,” “Celebration,” and “Let’s All Move Like the Animals Do;”
- Extreme pogo stick performers, aerialists, and tumblers will excite guests with various stunts throughout the parade route;
- The parade incorporates a brand-new sound system that includes over 150 speakers, more than 90 of which are positioned on the floats themselves;
- EB from Hop plays live drums in the parade and is accompanied by a live drum line;
- Each of the floats is battery powered and features energy-efficient LED lighting systems in addition to special effects, such as the six custom-built bubble machines on the SpongeBob SquarePants float;
- Parade floats are larger-than-life, with the largest one over 44’ long and over 23’ tall – yet they make use of an advanced positioning system that is accurate to within five inches.
Universal’s Superstar Parade steps off at the gate adjacent to B-20, between Louie’s Pizza (in the New York themed area) and Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue (in the San Francisco themed area), and heads right down 5th Avenue. After making a left onto Plaza of the Stars to travel towards the front of the park, the parade makes its final left turn onto Hollywood Blvd, where it returns backstage at the Esoteric Pictures gate, located near the Café La Bamba. Select floats from the parade will be on display in the park at various times throughout the day to provide guests with a closer look and to meet and greet their favorite characters.
Viewing Areas Information
We certainly look forward to see this brand-new parade! The only downside of the story is that the parade will initially only feature four (4) floats, which is a very limited number, despite the large size of the floats. We hope this number will grow in size in the next few years.

- Guest with disabilities can make use of a special ADA Viewing Area for the parade, located in front of the Macy’s façade in New York.
- Annual Passholders will also have a special viewing area in front of the Radio Broadcast Center on Hollywood Blvd. (during the month of June 2012 only).
