Fantasyland Update: Sky Way Tower is Gone (Part 1)
As you may have seen from the title, one of the main highlights of this new Fantasyland update will be the fact that the long-standing Sky Way tower has been completely destroyed (and we mean that!). But that's far from being all. We will also see new details in the Little Mermaid's area, Storybook Circus, and more.
Let's start from the gateway that will lead us to this Land of Fantasy: the gorgeous Cinderella Castle:
We will now take a look around the former Sky Way area:
See? We were not joking. The Sky Way tower is gone!:
Nope, these photos are not photoshopped either (we wouldn't know how to do that anyway!):
The foundations of the new pathway are clearly visible now:
A look from the first floor:
Moving over to "it's a small world":
Take a look at this massive queue!:
There was even an extended line. And it's February:
One of our readers, Ben, reported that one of the dolls inside the attraction was missing. He sent us this photo:
Unfortunately we have not had the opportunity of checking if the doll is back, but we will try to check next time we are at the park (and when the wait time is less than 40 minutes!).
Take a look at how busy the stroller parking was:
Moving on to Peter Pan's Flight, here you are another set of photos of the new ramp that was recently built near the Fastpass queue line of the attraction (we already reported this last week, but repetita iuvant!:
We will now officially enter the area where the New Fantasyland is currently being built.
Work on the castle walls continue:

A view of the walls from another angle:
Moving to other areas, we stopped and thought why Disney allows something like this to happen. It is typical of Universal to only partially theme buildings, but this is Disney. That shouldn't happen here:
Snow White's Scary Adventures:
Maurice's Cottage:
Beast's Castle:
Belle's Village is also continuing to take shape:
Notice the particulars on the arches:
Now, let's move on to the Little Mermaid's area, where there are some exciting news to share:
As it was reported by our reader Eric, the last (and biggest) roof on Prince Eric Castle has finally been installed! And it does look incredible:
Beautiful:
A better look at the whole building:
Yes, we like this castle. That's why we have so many photos of it:
Another closeup of the roof:
From this angle you can see where the two sides of the roof where joined together:
This will be fixed soon:
The rock-work is still being extended:
It will actually be almost attached to the tent in Storybook Circus to hide the ride's showbuilding:
I miss the Sky Buckets.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great Disney getaway! You've made me more excited of my Disney trip too. Disney World stroller rentals
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited! I hope to be there in December 2012 to check out the new fantasyland's progress. These pictures are great-- thank for posting so many.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, the old fantasyland will be a part of my childhood that can never be replaced. I wrote about the nostalgia on my blog, check it out if you get the chance: http://agirlswanderlustguide.blogspot.com
My oh my! Sky tower is one of my favorite in Disney! Yet I am still excited going back to Disney again. Everything in Disney is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSome of these castle roofs are part of the attractions in Disneyland. Just by looking at them, you can feel that you’ve gone into a fantasy world where you can meet your favorite Disney characters. Looking at the pictures of this roof reminds me of my childhood, when my mom would take me to Disneyland every time I got excellent grades in school.
