Wonders of Life Pavilion Removed from Custom Maps
Have you ever had the opportunity of visiting the old "Wonders of Life" pavilion when it was open? If you did so, consider yourself very lucky. That pavilion has been used as the Festival Center for many years now, and even though it not open anymore as an attraction, the building itself is still featured in the park maps around the Walt Disney World Resort. Just recently, though, the entire pavilion has been completely removed from the customized maps that guests can create at home (you have to be logged-in to use this service)...
This is an older customized map, where the Wonders of Life pavilion (the orange structure) was still visible:
Now, take a look at the current map:
As you can see, the Wonders of Life pavilion is officially not part of Epcot anymore. Is this a sign of things to come? Is there even a remote possibility that the pavilion will be finally re-purposed in the next few years? We wish, but the future of the pavilion does not look very bright for now...
Just checked the WDW website and the Wonders of Life Pavilion still appears on the custom maps.
ReplyDeleteIt may appear online, but we just received our copy, and it is not there... They may have not updated the online version yet. But thanks for reporting that to us, Anonymous!
ReplyDeleteI know it's not likely anytime soon, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they just knock the whole thing down and building something completely new there. There is plenty of space for an E-Ticket attraction.
ReplyDeleteMy thought is it must be an indoor "dark ride"-type attraction that can operate in all weather conditions, consistent with the rest of Future World (Test Track is the obvious and only exception). As for a theme, options could include fictional topics such as time travel or an extraterrestrial encounter. Non-fiction topics could include future travel (high speed rail, etc.), a global economy, or even social networking.
What would you guys want to see?
I agree with Jason, Epcot needs another E-Ticket attraction. Now if, and there is a big IF, Epcot wants another new ride, im thinking they will jump on a big topic, like time travel or something like that. Again Epcot needs another E-ticket attraction, this is the coolest park in WDW, its a shame seeing empty buildings.
ReplyDeleteWDI BRING US A E-TICKET RIDE!
how bout we focus on fixing all epcots problems before creating new rides? like the awful Imagination pavilion that's a shell of itself, the out of date universe of energy and the terrible nemo ride and living seas retheme (not including turtle talk).
ReplyDeleteThey could always fix those attractions while building a new one.
ReplyDeletebut because we know that would never happen, i would have the more important repairs and replacements happen before new additions. be realistic, they wont work on the equivalent of 3 lands at once.
ReplyDeleteTalk about management silencing poor Buzzy's fate! :(
ReplyDeleteIt tears my heart out to see the Wonders pavilion fall out of favor... While working at Disney in 1989 I remember just walking into the building and taking a brief tour while it was still under construction. No one asked me to leave or anything... Everything was so new and covered in plastic... Wow. I remember when Body Wars was the *ONLY* thrill ride at the entire park (before Test Track, Mission Space, Soarin', etc.) I would never miss it or Cranium Command each time I'd go to EPCOT.
ReplyDeleteLike Horizon's before it, it's sad to see these iconic attractions get the cold shoulder from management. :-( I wonder if they understand or even care how much people get attached to these places?
I would really like to see them add a new attraction here... They need a "people eater"...
ReplyDeleteSoarin' and Test Track have very low capacity...
Check out my blog, all about the Central Florida attractions!

Time travel? Uh, really guys... are we forgetting Spaceship Earth?
ReplyDeleteHow about a Health pavilion? Gee, maybe a pavilion about eating healthy, keeping physically fit, and letting you see the inner-workings of the human body is an experience that could work.*
*(Sarcasm aside, Wonders of Life's message wasn't a bad one, but an outdated one. Same as anything with health, it needs to be changed every few years as science evolves. That just seems like common sense to me. Even if it were just a journey through the human body, like a omnimover or EMV ride with physical sets, that would be fine. Oh, and the festival center can move somewhere else).
I don´t think we will see a Health pavilion (how awesome that would be) just because of the closing of the Habit Heroes that makes fat Americans cry (and there are a lot of them in the parks).
ReplyDeleteThey need to fix the current problems with Epcot first. Ellens Energy Crysis and Imagination need to be fixed first. But I loved the Wonders of Life pavilion (minus Body Wars that made me sick) and I hate to see it getting the cold shoulder from management.
Is Body Wars&Cranium Command attractions still inside the wonders of life pavilion?
