Habit Heroes Closes to "Improve the Experience"

What? Didn't this Innoventions exhibit just open? Indeed. But it looks like some people did not appreciate the way the attraction handled the subject of being healthy. Take a look at this surprising advisory:

Epcot: Habit Heroes Attraction in Innoventions

Habit Heroes, an attraction dedicated to conveying a positive message about healthy lifestyles in a fun and empowering way, has been operating in a soft opening period. The soft open phase gave us a chance to collect Guest feedback and test and adjust the attraction prior to its opening. To work on further improving and refining the experience, we’ve decided to close the attraction for the time being and look forward to officially re-opening it soon. At the moment we do not have a specific timetable for the formal opening of the attraction.

Also, as a reminder, the Habit Heroes exhibit - Sponsored by Florida Blue - officially debuted at Innoventions East on February 3, 2012. You can find the official announcement at this link.

  1. I don't understand what people were offended by. The exhibit was no different than many other kids entertainment in recent years that tried to teach healthy values.

I personally would never go through this exhibit because my time at Epcot always is primarily spent at World Showcase, but as a fluff attraction that wants to promote the FACT that more weight=higher health risks, the people who are shaming the exhibit are just adding to the problem. Habit Heroes wasn't a "bully" that perpetuated that being overweight is downright deplorable, it just wanted to speak up and say the common idea that eating healthier and exercising is good for you. How can anyone possibly deny that?

In actuality, the first version of Habit Heroes may have been a "poor execution" of the idea to some, but it is not wrong of Disney in any way to want to instill POSITIVE HEALTHY MESSAGES in today's youth. I wonder what they will retool to make all of the critics pleased. I just hope they give those hosts something more loose fitting to wear as skin tight clothing is not very family friendly, but I digress.

PS: I am happy to see that you have used the image host Minus that I suggested a while back. I always love your photo updates. Keep up the great work!

  2. If I remember from your post on this attraction you were not to impressed with the themeing. They may be fixing that with this closing. Also, many times technical glitches are found only when the ride is opened to the public. From what I can see there are a lot of computers involved with this attraction and they might have found more than a few problems.

  3. If they really want to "improve the experience", they should just scrap the whole thing. Incredibly boring topic. Nobody wants to go to WDW to be told to brush their teeth. What a waste.
