Downtown Disney News: Major Rainforest Cafe' Rehab
The entire Downtown Disney district is currently receiving an enormous rehab that covers almost very single restaurant and retail store in all the three areas (West Side, Pleasure Island, and the Marketplace). There's one particular place that will receive a very, very interesting refurbishment that will entirely change the look of the area. We are talking about the Rainforest cafe', one of the most popular eateries of Downtown Disney.
Indeed, the restaurant's themed facade will be greatly improved. The volcano will look much more realistic, and will include some very realistic lava! It will also have some more water features, along with a new bar, that will aptly be called "Lava Lounge."
Here you are some photos of the current status of the work, along with an in-depth look at the artwork that depicts the future look of the restaurant:
The entire themed facade has been walled-off:
the area where guests could see macaws has been completely removed:
A look at the volcano itself:
Cranes were already on-site:
I personally never really liked the look of this volcano, as it had an unusual shape:
It will look fantastic in the near future!:
The themed tarps:
Now, let's take a look at the concept art:

And here's a HIGH-RESOLUTION version:
Let's take a look at some of the particulars:
Notice that the volcano will erupt every once in a while. For real! Of course, it will not involve actual lava:
It looks like the main entrance of the restaurant will have to be moved a little lore to the right to make way for the new Lava Lounge:
Notice also that the Audio-Animatronic crocodile will return (and possibly look more realistic):
Since we are here, let's take a look around:
Lefty's store has been moved near the front of Fun Finds:
The Marketplace DVC booth has received the new logo as well:
The famous "spitting Stitch" is missing from the second main entrance of the World of Disney Store:
The repaving project continues:
A look over the walls:
Basin is also receiving a major rehab:
The back of the store:
Here's the concept art that shows the future look of the store's interior:
And that is all:
Thank you for reading, and have a great rest of your day.
Great update as always.
ReplyDelete- Any noticeable changes with Splitsville? How is construction going?
I see they removed Stitch, do you know if he's returning?
ReplyDeleteI guess they have to keep this year's theme going...Walls across America.
ReplyDelete@LemonySnickification: You are right, Stitch is missing from the top of the World of Disney store. We wanted to report it on our update, but it looks like we forgot. Thanks for the reminder. About Stitch's return, we think it will come back soon. It is surely receiving it's seasonal refurbishment.
ReplyDeleteWhen it returns, please post a picture of that spitting Stitch. I've never seen it so now I'm curious!
