Penguin Encounter - NOW CLOSED (Photos)
Before starting this new, special update, we just want to make sure that our readers know that this is not a tribute to the former Penguin Encounter attraction. As you will see later in this update, it will just show you the current status of the Penguin Plaza and of the the Penguin Encounter attraction's exterior (but, do not worry. We will post a true tribute to this attraction in the next few weeks).
Let us, therefore, take a look around the walled-off area that was formerly called "The Penguin Plaza":
The attraction and the entire surrounding area closed down forever on January 3, 2012:
The Penguin Encounter sign:
All the penguin cutouts have been removed from the walls located next to the exit of the attraction:
The place now has a very eerie feeling:
An empty shop:
A general overview of the area:
Walls are up also on the other side, next to the entrance of Kraken and Journey to Atlantis:
Walls are really common this year in our theme parks, but they only promise a lot of great things to come!:
A new, temporary park map has been installed near each of the former entrances to the Penguin Plaza to direct guests who may feel lost because of the change:
There we are:
Another map, located next to the Pacific Point Preserve:
The only building that is still open (but not for long...) is the restroom facility of the Penguin Plaza:
Walls are up also on the other side of the restrooms:
A few over-the-walls photos:
The area was extremely old. We are glad it is being replaced by a much better themed area:
Another wall:
And this is all. Thank you fore reading. A complete SeaWorld Orlando update will be posted very soon.
I don't remember if Seaworld released a possible end of the work month for both area the are refurbishing.
ReplyDeleteI have maybe a better idea: seeing how many rehab there are in so many Orlando's parks what you think about post a recap of all the work in those park with their possible reopen date?
This table could be useful to understand to all the guest of the parks to try to understand what kind of situation they should expect during their holidays!
I really like how the map shows construction. It's really nice and I love it for some odd reason. Wish other parks would do that instead of drawing in trees or an empty field. :P
ReplyDeleteGreat update (as usual). Off-topic: But where is the Jaws RIDE Tribute? I am very anxious to see it.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you that don't know, I was just at the park. They're still Pepsi, and the Tower is free now. No longer costs $4.
