Miscellaneous News From East Highway 192

As you may know, Highway 192 is one of the major tourists corridors of Central Florida. For this reason, we want to keep you up-to-date even with the minor changes that are happening in the area. Let's see...

First of all, one of the many motels has changed name, as the company that previously owned it has decided to sell it. It was formerly a "Days Inn," as you can clearly see:

It has now  become a "Budgetel Inn":

GOOD NEWS: Just a few weeks ago, we had a huge eyesore along the 192. It was a Chinese restaurant that had been abandoned since quite a few years. This is how it looked:

Well, it is completely gone now. That is a very good news, as the conditions of the building were very bad:

We are not sure, but we remember this motel having a small reptile exhibit, but it looks like it has been abandoned:

This is the building we are talking about:

Anyway, it seems like the motel wants to get rid of it:

The building that once housed a "Roadhouse" restaurant has finally been sold, and it may soon become a new restaurant. This is how it was a few months ago:

Here's how it looks now (you may notice only a few changes, but it is being completely re-done:

And we conclude with this nice shot of the beautiful Medieval Times castle:

That is all. Once again, for many of our readers this update may seem a bit uninteresting, but we think it is important to keep an eye also on the areas surrounding the many attractions and theme parks here in Central Florida. Thanks for reading, and have a good rest of your evening!

  2. It used to be so cool on 192. Disney really pulled the budget traveler away with the pop hotels.

  6. The Giant Gator next to the Gator Hotel was once "Jungleland Zoo" which had nothing to do with the hotel. It was shut down for animal neglect and bankruptcy several years ago and it took the owner an additional year to move all the animals from the space. Gator Wrestling was the main draw to the small zoo but it also housed nearly a dozen other types of animals. The gift shop was still full in 2004 but has since been emptied out as of 2006.

A few years ago 2008 there was a "For Sale" sign posted on the property but disappeared by 2009. I'm not sure if it was ever purchased or not.

As for 192, there are several great "Hidden Gem" hotels. Small, clean and with service better then Disney and prices that don't hurt your wallet. We stay in our favorite each and every time we're back in Orlando.
