SeaWorld Trying to Save a Manatee

SeaWorld Orlando's Rescue Team is currently trying to save a manatee that was off the coast of Florida, but that was then taken by the currents up toward the north. Here you are the latest information, from SeaWorld's official Facebook page:

SeaWorld Orlando's rescue team, along with members of Sea2Shore and 25 members of the U.S. Coast Guard, had been trying to rescue Glades, a wayward manatee who was originally spotted via satellite off the NE Coast of Florida. After spending 3 1/2 days on the Maria Bray, a 146-foot, 100-ton U.S. Coast Guard Buoy Tender, they were unable to rescue her as the conditions were too tough at sea -- 4-5-foot waves, not safe to launch a smaller vessel to rescue her. They ended up along the NW coast of S. Carolina, an 18-hour trip back to Jacksonville and then another 2 1/2 hours back to Orlando for the SeaWorld folks. The organizations will re-group shortly to figure out next steps. Remember to check in here for more updates as they become available.
