One More Disney Day - Disney's New Campaign

The Walt Disney World Resort always has an annual campaign to celebrate. In the past few years, we had "The Year of a Million Dreams," "What Will You Celebrate?," "Let the Memories Begin!," and many more.

In 2012, it looks like there will be yet another new campaign that will involve all four parks (as usual, of course), called "One More Disney Day," which, according to many insistent rumors that you can easily find around the web, would involve the opening of the Magic Kingdom park (Florida) and the Disneyland park (California)... for 24 hours straight! Only for one day.

Here's the video-teaser that Disney released just a few days ago (on December 23, 2011):

In the past couple of days, Disney has dropped in some more hints that seem to confirm this rumor. Both parks are indeed expected to remain open all day and all night on leap day, that is, February 29, 2012.

What's your opinion on this? By the way, the official announcement will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!

  1. While this is a neat thing... It only is a benefit to those people who already were planning to go to the parks then anyway. A majority of Disney fans would not be able to take advantage of this "special" event.

  2. I agree with Tracy. While it's a cool idea, it certainly isn't anything that warrants weeks of anticipation and a New Year's Eve "surprise" announcement. Plus, the Magic Kingdom is primarily a family park, and I don't know many kids that can stay awake much past midnight (our 5 year old can barely stay awake for the 10pm fireworks after being worn out after a long day). I also don't know many parents (especially parents on a Disney vacation with busy kids) that can stay awake much past midnight either. It seems to me that this would benefit teenagers and adults (that are not vacationing with young children) for one day only. So again, a cool idea, but something that benefits very few and definitely not anything to write home about.

  3. I would be surprised if it is a one-day event such as a 24 hour opening on Leap Day. Personally, I think they will be offering one extra day free if you buy a multi-day pass. This would make sense from the park's perspective, too, since they are trying to keep people from going to Universal, SeaWorld, LegoLand, etc. Would you pay almost $100 for a day at another park, or stick around Disney and spend your money there when admission would be free?

  4. It is very weird that they are doing a big expensive marketing push centered around a day only 2 months away. Also, I don't know how many will be able to take advatange of it, being a Wednesday. It's a full week after Mardi Gras, so even the refugees from NOLA will be back home.

  5. Seeing the sun come up from Big Thunder Mountain might be cool.
