New Recycling Bins Debut at Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando is about to become... "greener." In fact, the resort has just recently introduced new ways to recycle, and therefore creating new opportunities for the guests to show that they car about the environment:

Park Map and Poncho Recycling Bins Debut

In continued support of our Green is Universal initiatives and our focus on waste reduction this year, our Park Services team is proud to introduce two new ways to recycle.
Park map recycling bins are now located at the exits of both parks. The bins have specially designed slots for park maps and provide a way to be green for guests who do not wish to keep their park map as a souvenir.
In addition, based on a Productivity Plus suggestion, poncho recycling bins have been placed at the exit of Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls. Park Services received feedback that guests were purchasing ponchos to use on the ride and then throwing them away upon exiting. The team researched vendors that could recycle the poncho material and then partnered with the Creative Department to design themed recycling containers for the ponchos. “Our team continues to put a tremendous focus on our recycling efforts,” says Chris Hecht, Sr. Manager of Park Services. “These creative initiatives will further support our commitment of capturing as much recyclable waste as possible around our resort.”

I personally would not want to throw away my park maps (yes, they make a good souvenir), but surprisingly, many do so, therefore it is absolutely a good idea to have these new recycling bins (other parks use them too, like SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and LEGOLAND Florida).

It is always good to think about the environment. Great job, Universal Orlando.

  1. Hats off to the concept, Many people just throw the park guides away as soon as they leave, Reusing these maps will save lots of paper & trees.

  2. Wow, why would anyone not want to keep their map?! I always keep mine (and then consistently lose them somewhere in the house)!
