Hong Kong Disneyland Grows with Toy Story Land

More fun comes to Hong Kong Disneyland Park this fall with the much-anticipated debut of a new land celebrating the world of Andy, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie. Filled with the color and imagination the three Disney-Pixar films are known for, Toy Story Land will feature exciting new attractions that will allow Guests to see the world from the whimsical eyes of a toy.

Big thrills become even bigger once Guests shrink to the size of a child’s plaything. The Toy Soldier Parachute Drop will loom over recruits in training as they swoop down from an 80-foot tower. Other attractions inspired by the “Toy Story” films are the RC Racer, where Guests will race along a U-shaped tubular steel coaster, and Slinky Dog Spin, where those onboard join in the fun as laid-back Slinky Dog tries to chase his tail, lagging behind as ever.
When Toy Story Land opens in mid-November, it will mark the completion of the first phase of a multiyear expansion project. The phased growth will see several new and exciting additional attractions during the next two years. In 2012, the land of Grizzly Gulch will welcome adventurous settlers to an 1880s mining town in the American West. In 2013, Mystic Point will receive travelers to its dark and uncharted acres of dense rainforest.

With the addition of the new lands, Hong Kong Disneyland Park will grow by nearly 25 percent and offer almost 100 new experiences, including attractions, dining, shopping and entertainment. Many will be unique to the resort.

If Toy Story Land doesn't sound so great to you, don't worry. Very few people actually consider it a true "expansion," as the rides that will be included in the area are not very exciting... On the other hand, though, Hong Kong Disneyland really needs new attractions, and Toy Story Land will only be the first of the three new areas of the park. The best of them all, Grizzly Gulch, will open next year, with a great family coaster ride, which will have a theming similar to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, with a completely different story-line.
