LEGOLAND Florida's Entrance to Be Fountain-Free?
This is just a minor thing that we wanted to discuss, but it is still quite interesting. Recently, we noticed something not very pleasant when we checked out the almost-completed entrance plaza of LEGOLAND Florida. Indeed, one of the first artist's renderings of the area showed a very nice, LEGO-themed fountain, which was to be located right in front of the big arch. Here is the artwork we are referring to:

As you can see, the fountain was to be quite large, and feature some LEGO characters. Unfortunately, it seems like this part of the project was cancelled, and replaced by the "WELCOME" sign that we have seen in our last LEGOLAND Florida update:
This doesn't mean that they may build the fountain in the future (unless they have not installed any pipes under that "welcome" sign). Of course, as we said at the beginning, this is far from being something major, but we are still hoping that LEGOLAND will add the fountain to the entrance, just because it would add a lot more synergy in the area, in our opinion. What do you think?
I don´t think it´s minor at all!
ReplyDeleteThe entrance is always the first photo oppertunity and it´s also always the last thing you so when you leave the park. The fountain would have been beautifull with the statuas and the green around it. In comparison the WELCOME sign is boring nd not much of a goodnight kiss when you leave at the end of the day.
Costs are hitting everything hard.
ReplyDelete@OT: I absolutely agree with you. For me it is a major change, I just didn't want this to make people think that the entire park received cuts. This is just a very minor change, when compared to the size of the entire LEGOLAND Florida project (which is really going to be spectacular, believe me).
ReplyDeleteHadn't noticed that change since I never took the concept art as gospel. However, you will also notice a LOT of changes since the first versions of the map to the later versions. In particular, the water features and play area in Duplo were removed. Although I expect they'll return later.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, Greg. They made some minor adjustments on some of the areas of the park. Hopefully they'll reintroduce those features in the near future. With that being said, I can't wait to see the park in all its splendor!!
ReplyDeletemaybe the "welcome" sign is just temporary?
ReplyDeleteAs Legoland was determined to open this month, maybe priority was given to ensuring the inside of the park was completed on time.
As time started running out maybe Legoland had to prioritise its building work and the fountain will arrive at a later date
just a possible theory, i've no idea as to whether the fountain will ever appear. personally i hope it does: i agree with OT, the welcome sign IS boring!
